It’s been a long, and at times, difficult year in making this dream come true. But now these children have a real home, with beds, chairs, tables, and cabinets…and a wonderful outdoor space for play. The cost to maintain all this is going to be a bit more than their previous substandard housing. But we are going from a basic survival environment to allowing them to lead normal, enriched lives. School costs have increased due to a better local educational system. Even though school is technically only about US$10 per month, the "add-ons" of registration and other fees for the school year pushes the total up to almost US$100 per child. This is why a "free" educational system makes it impossible for so many families here in Indonesia to keep their children in school.
We have estimated that the total monthly operating expenses at Cinere Mas will average about US$2000. And that allows for only 20 cents per day per child for food! With our new office and improved record keeping, we will be able to track the cost per child (on average) for one year. At that time, it will be possible to encourage more donors to "sponsor a child". Meanwhile, we ask that you consider doing exactly that…sponsor a child or children so that Pancaran Kasih Cinere Mas can continue to care for the unwanted children of Indonesia.
